Microsoft Office 2019 is the most recent edition of Microsoft Office, a productivity suite that replaces Office 2016 and incorporates many of the features previously only available through Office 365. It provides you with strong and rich new methods to deliver your finest work from your PC, a Windows Mobile-based Smartphone, or a Web browser at home, work, or school.
When was Office 2019 released?
Before formally launching Office 2019 on September 24, 2018, Microsoft was tight-lipped about when it will be released. Microsoft’s Commercial Sample program allowed commercial and volume-licensing clients to preview Office 2019 before it was officially released.
What’s new: Microsoft office 2019 features
Here are some of the new features in Office 2019 that will appeal to both new and experienced users:
1. Advanced PowerPoint features
While PowerPoint remains one of the most popular and widely used presentation tools, many others consider it outdated, especially now that more tech-savvy alternatives such as Prezi are available.
Microsoft has announced plans to provide more complex presentation features in Office 2019 in order to stay relevant. Enhancements to Morph and Zoom features, for example, can help you build a more sophisticated and dynamic presentation.
Those capabilities are already included in Microsoft 365 subscriptions, but they aren’t available to users who are still using Office 2016.
2. More powerful excel data analysis
Excel still reigns supreme when it comes to data management and analysis. In the 2019 version of Office, the company intends to take things to the next level.
Customers may expect new formulas, new charts (such as funnel charts and 2D maps), the option to publish from Excel to Power BI (Microsoft’s own business analytics service), and improvements to PowerPivot and Power Query.
If Excel is your indisputable favorite of the Microsoft Office suite, the upcoming 2019 enhancements will almost certainly have you doing a happy dance.
3. Enhancements to the inking capabilities.
Microsoft Surface users are likely already great fans of the digital pen, which allows them to draw, scribble, and doodle straight on their device’s screen.
Pressure sensitivity, tilt effects that adjust the ink thickness depending on the angle of the pen, and even a roaming pencil case will be introduced in Office 2019 across all apps, allowing users to store and organize their favorite pens, pencils, and highlighters to roam with them across their different devices.
Easier email administration
Finally, if you use Outlook, you won’t be left out in the cold when Office 2019 comes out. Microsoft has previewed a number of new features aimed at alleviating some of the frustrations and hassles associated with email management.
These include, according to Microsoft, the following:
- Contact cards that have been updated
- @mentions in Microsoft Office Groups
- Inbox that is laser-focused
- Cards for vacation packages
Microsoft hopes that these enhancements will help users handle their email more effectively and efficiently.
