Windows 10 no longer gets free security updates, so Windows 11 is the safer choice for a new install.
What else you need
- An Autodesk account. Sign in or create a free account.
- A stable internet connection to download, install and activate.
- A valid license is required. You also need an Autodesk subscription linked to your Autodesk ID. Or, use a license with a serial number and product key.
Step 1: Download AutoCAD 2025
- Go to your Autodesk Account and sign in with your Autodesk ID. If you don't have one, create it.
- Open Products and Services > All Products and Services and find AutoCAD.
- Select Windows, version 2025 and your language.
- Open the menu next to Install and choose Download to save the AutoCAD 2025 installer to your PC.
Only download AutoCAD 2025 full version from Autodesk. Installers from other websites can be modified or incomplete.
Step 2: AutoCAD 2025 Installation

- On Choose where to install, keep the default folder (
C:\Program Files\Autodesk) or click … to change it, then click Install.
- Wait for the installation to finish. When you see Install complete, click Finish.
Step 3: How to Activate AutoCAD 2025
Launch AutoCAD 2025 from your desktop or the Start menu. How you activate depends on your AutoCAD license key.

- On the first-launch screen, choose Sign in with your Autodesk ID.
- Sign in with the account that has the subscription. AutoCAD checks the license validity online and activates automatically.

- Accept the privacy statement if asked, then click Activate.

Troubleshooting Common Issues When Setting Up AutoCAD 2025
- Download is stuck or slow: check your internet connection. In Autodesk Account you can also try Direct download from the Install menu.
- "Create Installer" fails: make sure all downloaded parts finished downloading and are in the same folder, and that you have at least 10 GB free.
- Installation errors: update Windows and your graphics driver first. If security software blocks the installer and you pause it, turn it back on straight afterwards.
- Activation fails: check that you're signed in with the Autodesk account that holds the subscription.
